Announcement and Call for Papers
Preparations for the 2003 Quality & productivity Research Conference are well underway.Ê The conference will be held 21-23 May 2003 in the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, NY, and is jointly sponsored by IBM and Rutgers University.Ê Prof. John A.Cornell will present a full-day pre-conference tutorial "Experimenting with Mixtures" on May 20.Ê Both invited and contributed papers will be presented. This is a call for papers.Ê Please send the title of the paper and a brief (50 words or so) to:

Abstracts for contributed papers should be received by March 28.Ê Topics for the invited and contributed sessions currently include design of experiments, statistical process control, software quality assurance, bayesian methods, reliability, visualization, data mining, data quality, metrology, statistics for financial and service industries, and supply chain analytics.Ê The conference will also feature tutorial sessions by two distinguished
researchers: Data Mining (Dr. Andrew W. Moore, Carnegie Mellon University)
and Data Quality (Dr. R. Pearson, Daniel Baugh Institute / Thomas Jefferson
University). Two special events are planned: a dinner party, including honoring our special guest (Prof. Peter W. M. John) and
students awards (May 21) and a visit to the IBM Industry Solutions Lab

The 2003 QPRC will be held at the IBM, Thomas J. Watson Research Center
(TWRC), located at the intersection of the Taconic State Parkway and NY
Route 134. A block of rooms is being held until April 25 in the Wellesley
Hotel in Elmsford (previously called Ramada Inn) located about 10 miles
to the South of the TWRC and about 15 miles to the North of the New York
City. Shuttle buses will be provided between the Ramada Inn and TWRC.Ê The room rate is $79 single or double occupancy plus tax ($59 for students,
single or double occupancy).Ê
