Teaching Designing Experiments: Some Adventures and Lessons Learned

Teaching a basic course in experimental design to a diverse audience presents many interesting challenges. This presentation discusses some of those challenges and offers some advice about both course content and instructional methodology. Some examples of actual experimental problems are also discussed, drawing from academia, industry, and business. Some of these experiences have resulted in (sometimes painful) learning opportunities. Suggestions for avoiding these problems are given.
