The Bottom-line on Stewardship – a Catalyst for Innovation.

SAS is committed to minimizing the environmental impacts of our business. This commitment is not just good will – it makes good business sense. Investments in environmentally responsible practices and technologies deliver returns for SAS in three significant ways:

  • Reducing costs through intelligently managed resource consumption.
  • Growing new markets through innovative, eco-friendly business practices.
  • Responsibly meeting the expectations of customers, government and the public.

SAS reduces our environmental footprint with multiyear programs focused on energy conservation and solar projects, emission management, pollution mitigation, water conservation, waste reduction and recycling, procurement and green building.

SAS Institute Inc.

At SAS, environmental stewardship is a continuous effort requiring prudent use, conservation and preservation of our natural resources. As the Global Program Manager of Environmental Sustainability, Jerry Williams ensures implementation of this mandate and uses SAS solutions to manage the company’s environmental-related data, identify risks and opportunities, and develop reports detailing SAS’ resource usage, carbon footprint and environmental performance.

Jerry is the primary coordinator of environmental initiatives at SAS and key contributor to ongoing corporate social responsibility programs. In the community, Jerry is often asked to speak about the business viability of solar, plug-in electric vehicle infrastructure, LEED certification and other initiatives to a wide range of municipal, education and research audiences.  He developed the business models for the numerous renewable energy related projects at SAS, including solar rooftop systems and the 2.2-megawatt solar farm at headquarters in Cary, NC. He established the award winning Environmental Program at SAS, an internal sustainability website, the Eco Advocate employee volunteer program and helps lead cross-divisional teams to publish SAS’ annual Corporate Social Responsibility Report.

Prior to joining SAS in 2001, Williams worked for 10 years as a Program Financial Manager with GTE Government Systems. He holds a BA from North Carolina State University in economics and business management.
