Radiology Efficiency Dashboard: A Prototype for Radiology Quality Improvements

The growing United States population and continued medical advances have increased demand for healthcare. With this demand, however, come challenges: managing rising costs and maintaining efficient and quality services. Noting one significant contributor to healthcare expenses is increasing radiology exams, this research is to design and implement a Radiology Efficiency Dashboard (RED) for Mayo Clinic in Arizona (MCA), which integrates data from four systems: the electronic medical record (EMR), radiology information system (RIS), picture archiving and communication system (PACS), and a custom built radiology quality assurance monitoring system. The insights gained can be used to improve radiology operational processes.
