Data Analytics in Supply Chain Management

Abstract:

Proper management of suppliers and multi-level sub-tier suppliers has become more important than ever especially when business models heavily depend on outsourcing strategy. Success of new products, on-time delivery, and quality of products can suffer greatly if a company fails to effectively manage their supply chain. Monitoring supplier health, predicting future issues, and taking effective corrective/proactive actions are all crucial parts of supplier management. In recent times, more and more Data Analytics techniques have been utilized to support each of the parts. In this talk, I will give an overview of different data analytics techniques that are being currently used within the Boeing Company. I will also talk about difficulties in translating analysis outputs into actionable information. Finally, I will discuss the lack of a feedback loop in designing and prioritizing corrective actions for higher level of effectiveness.
