Zestimate: The Challenge of Big Data Analytics


Abstract:

Zillow has led the way in the remaking of the real estate industry by providing consumers and professionals with vital information about the housing market.  Central to the Zillow brand is the Zestimate: an estimated value for each home in the U.S.  The problem is challenging on many levels, from handling disparate and messy data to incorporating complex spatial-temporal interactions in the value of homes to managing over one terabyte of data under the demands of a high availability production system.  I will review the history of the Zestimate and how we have addressed the challenges, drawing on recent experiences at Zillow.Type your paragraph here.
